Kansas’ Odds to Win National Championship Drop From Last Week

Dajuan Harris Jr.

While Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks entered the 2023-24 college basketball season as one of the odds-on favorites to win the National Championship, Kansas’ title odds have started to fall after some recent setbacks.

The No. 8 Jayhawks are currently tied for second in the Big 12 Conference but after losing games to Iowa State, West Virginia, and UCF, things in Lawrence appear to be heading in the wrong direction.

Kansas entered the week with 14/1 (+1400) odds to win the championship game, but after the loss to Iowa State as well as some recent injuries to Kevin McCullar and Hunter Dickinson, Bill Self’s team has seen their odds drop to 25/1 (+2500).

The Jayhawks are joined on the list by seven other Big 12 teams that are receiving odds from BetOnline including Houston, Baylor, BYU, Iowa State, Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas Tech.

The national title odds for each Big 12 team can be seen below courtesy of BetOnline.

Houston19/2(+950)
Kansas25/1(+2500)
Baylor40/1(+4000)
BYU40/1(+4000)
Iowa State40/1(+4000)
Oklahoma90/1(+9000)
TCU90/1(+9000)
Texas Tech90/1(+9000)

While the Big 12 Conference slate still features 10 more games in conference play, BetOnline believes that Houston and Kansas have the best shot at weathering the storm in America’s best basketball conference and closing out the season with a National Championship trophy.
