No. 7 Texas Leapfrogs K-State to Lead Five Big 12 Teams in Women’s AP Poll

The Big 12 saw five teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday after Week 13 of the season and the first 11 games of conference play.

Those teams included:

Texas at No. 7 (No. 12 last week);

Kansas State at No. 8 (No. 2 last week);

Baylor at No. 18 (No. 13 last week);

 

West Virginia at No. 22 (No. 23 last week);

Oklahoma at No. 24 (not ranked last week).

Kansas State (20-3, 9-2) lost both of its games last week, its first losses in Big 12 action. Kansas State fell to Oklahoma, 66-63, and Texas, 61-54. Kansas State is off during the week before it hosts Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Texas (21-3, 8-3) won both of its games last week, defeating Baylor, 67-55, and Kansas State, 61-54. The Longhorns are off during the mid-week before traveling to Fort Worth to face TCU on Saturday.

 

Baylor (17-4, 6-4) split last week, as the Bears fell to Texas, 67-55, and beat Houston, 83-60. The Bears hit the road to face BYU on Wednesday, followed by a home game against West Virginia on Saturday.

West Virginia (19-2, 8-2) won both games last week and has won six straight. The Mountaineers defeated UCF, 84-43, and BYU, 76-69. The Mountaineers host Texas Tech on Tuesday and travel to Baylor on Saturday.

Oklahoma (15-6, 9-1) continued its winning streak, as the Sooners beat Kansas State, 66-63, and followed that with an 81-74 win over Oklahoma State. Winners of six straight, the Sooners host TCU on Wednesday and travel to Iowa State on Saturday.
