Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys have created a true landing spot for transfer portal wide receivers in Stillwater (Okla.), and that trend continued on Monday morning.

Former three-star prospect and Virginia Tech wide receiver Da’Wain Lofton announced his commitment to Oklahoma State early on Monday after spending threes seasons with the Hokies.

During his time in Blacksburg (Virg.), Lofton appeared in 36 games, including 12 starts. In 2023, Lofton tallied just six receptions for 58 yards but was a key special teams contributor, making six tackles and recovering a fumble on a muffed punt against Tulane in the Military Bowl.

The 2022 season serves as Lofton’s career year to this point, as the 5-10, 175-pound target hauled in 22 receptions for 254 yards and three touchdowns for the Hokies, including a 53-yard score.

Lofton was a product of North Side (Tex.) and was the No. 952 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Lofton is the sixth member of Oklahoma State’s 2024 transfer portal class, joining RB AJ Green (Arkansas), EDGE Obi Ezeigbo (Gannon), TE Tyler Foster (Ohio), OT Isaia Glass (Arizona State), and CB
Kobe Hylton (UTEP).
