Cincinnati Moves to Last Four In in Latest Joe Lunardi Bracketology

While the Big 12 Conference gets more respect than any other league in America, one team currently fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament continues to find itself in bubble purgatory on Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update.

Wes Miller’s Cincinnati Bearcats currently sit in ninth place in the Big 12 Conference but are just three games back from the league-leading Houston Cougars. Despite finding themselves on the outside looking in on the previous update, the Bearcats have now jumped into the tournament field as the last team in.

While the Bearcats haven’t played since Saturday’s 75-72 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Lunardi moved Cincinnati back into the picture as the 68th-ranked team in the bracket.

The Bearcats have already recorded three Top-25 wins this season in conference play after taking down No. 12 BYU, No. 19 TCU, and No. 15 Texas Tech. The team’s fourth conference win came against UCF, with opportunities to win against No. 14 Baylor and No. 25 Texas being stripped away on last-second, buzzer-beater losses.

While Lunardi believes that Cincinnati has a shot to sneak into the field as the last team in, the Bearcats will have two opportunities for Top 25 wins on Saturday, February 10th against No. 5 Houston, and Tuesday, February 13th against No. 14 Iowa State.
