Watch: Oklahoma Fans Sing ‘Red Solo Cup’ to Honor Toby Keith
Oklahoma basketball honored the late Toby Keith on Saturday night as the Sooners played host to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the hardwood.
Keith passed away on Monday night at 62 years old after a battle with stomach cancer, and while OU hosted BYU on Tuesday night, the University was limited in what it could do to honor Keith.
Saturday turned into a more official celebration of the life of the late Sooners fan, who was often seen in his OU gear and at Oklahoma sporting events.
All beverages at Saturday’s contest were sold in red Solo cups, playing homage to Keith’s 2011 single, “Red Solo Cup.”
And then, that led to the hit song being played in the arena, which led to quite a scene at Lloyd Noble Center.
What a scene and what a night. There’s no doubt Toby Keith is looking down with his own red solo cup, smiling and yelling, “Boomer!”
