Houston ‘Managing’ F J’Wan Roberts Knee Injury
Senior forward J’Wan Roberts has been dealing with a lingering injury for the past few weeks of the 2023-24 college basketball season.
Head coach Kelvin Sampson provided an update on Roberts’ injury on his weekly radio show and mentioned that the Texas native is getting fluid drained from his knee every 2-3 weeks and will likely need a knee scope after the season.
Roberts has been a solid player for the Cougars this season averaging 9.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in his fourth season of college basketball.
Coming out of high school, Roberts was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 153rd-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 24th-ranked power forward in his class and the 16th-ranked player in the state of Texas.
Roberts’ biggest game of the season came against TCU on January 13th where he recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks.
While Roberts’ status for Saturday’s matchup against Texas is not in question, his knee injury will be one to follow as Houston continues it’s quest for a Big 12 title in 2023-24.
