Former TCU Baseball Star Calls Out Fans Over Slow Start on Opening Night

FloSports: FloBaseball College Baseball Showdown

The TCU Horned Frogs 2024 baseball season got off to a wild start on Friday night.

While TCU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the FGCU Eagles were able to score a whopping seven runs in the third and fourth inning combined. By the time the seventh inning came around, Florida Gulf Coast had a 9-3 lead and many assumed the game was over.

And with TCU ranked No. 5 in the preseason, this would’ve been an ugly way to start the season. Fans were already chirping on social media, and former TCU star Tre Richardson made sure to call them out on X.

But then, he Horned Frogs started making their epic comeback as both Anthony Silva and Chase Brunson hit home runs in the seventh before scoring four more in the eighth to tie the game, which had Richardson, now with the St. Louis Cardinals organization, fired up.

With a tie game going into the bottom of the ninth and runners on second and third, Jack Arthur struck out, but it was a wild pitch and was able to reach base on bad throw that helped bring in a run and help TCU complete the comeback of a lifetime for a 10-9 win.

TCU and Florida Gulf Coast continue their series on Saturday with first pitch at 2:00 p.m.
