Oklahoma Softball Wins 60th-Straight Game
The Oklahoma Sooners softball team made it 60 straight wins on Saturday with an 8-0 victory over Lamar.
Kierston Deal got the start in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and picked up her first win of the season with an 8-0 run-rule victory in the McNeese State Cowgirl Challenge.
Deal struck out eight of the first 14 batters while only giving up two walks with no hits across her first four complete innings.
Meantime, OU got on the board in the first inning on Kinzie Hansen’s two-out solo homer, and Tiare Jennings’ solo shot to start the bottom of the second inning made it 2-0. OU loaded the bases with two out behind Jennings’ homer, and Alyssa Brito drew a walk on four straight pitches to make it 3-0. In the bottom of the fourth, Rylie Boone’s two-run single put Oklahoma up 5-0.
In the fifth inning, Alynah Torres’ RBI ground out drove in Jennings for a 6-0 Sooners lead, and the game ended on Riley Ludlam’s two-RBI single to left field.
One of the personal milestones of the game was Tiara Jennings’ reaching 76 career home runs and 250 RBIs.
The No. 1-ranked Sooners continue their NCAA-record winning streak to 61 games later that evening with a 3-0 win over McNeese State.
