Houston G Ramon Walker Not Available vs. Baylor
While Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars are already facing a tough task on the road against No. 11 Baylor, the Cougars’ path to victory became marginally more difficult with Saturday morning’s news.
Junior guard Ramon Walker will not be available on Saturday against Baylor after suffering a knee injury during Thursday’s practice.
The loss of Walker is a disappointing update for Houston, as the Texas native has been a solid contributor to Kelvin Sampson’s squad this season. The junior guard is currently averaging two points and three rebounds per game in his third college basketball season.
Coming out of high school, Walker was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 126th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 25th-ranked small forward in his class and the eighth-ranked player in the state of Texas.
While Walker hasn’t been a massive scorer for the Cougars this season, he finds a way to fill the stat sheet in multiple different ways. His biggest game of the year came against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on November 11th, where he recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and one steal.
With Houston seated firmly in the driver’s seat towards earning a Big 12 title in their first season in the league, a win over No. 11 Baylor would go a long way to lock things up. Saturday’s matchup between Baylor and Houston tips off in Waco at 11:00 AM CT on CBS.
