Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang has quickly re-introduced championship aspirations in Manhattan since taking over for the team in 2022-23.

Tang’s starting point guard, Tylor Perry, spoke on his belief in Kansas State’s head coach with KSNT’s Glenn Kinley, saying, “I have no doubt Jerome Tang wins a National Championship before his time here is done.”

“I have no doubt in my mind that he [Jerome Tang] will win a National Championship before his time is done here,” Perry said. “Just the belief that Coach Tang has in his players, Gene Taylor, and in his staff to get recruiting done and getting players to develop the way they need to. There’s no doubt in my mind that Coach Tang wins a National Championship.”

Perry has been a huge piece of Tang’s squad in 2023-24, averaging 15.1 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game in his first year with the Wildcats. Perry spent time with one of Tang’s closest friends and coworkers, Grant McCasland, at his previous stop with North Texas. While McCasland accepted a new position as the head coach for Texas Tech, Perry’s time with the Mean Green came to an end, resulting in his journey to Kansas State.

“I’ve been blessed to be under him for one year,” Perry said. “Look at his track record for the guards and the bigs he had at Baylor that played in the league and played overseas. At the end of the day, Coach Tang is about changing the kids’ lives, and when you have somebody who’s worried about changing lives and not gaining his own exposure and wealth, God is going to bless them. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s going to deliver that National Championship to Kansas State, and I still believe it can be done this year.”

Perry and the Wildcats take the court next on Monday, February 26th, against Josh Eilert and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
