Cincinnati Drops Out of NCAA Tournament Field in Latest Bracketology

Wes Miller and the Cincinnati Bearcats have had a tough stretch of games lately, and after dropping back-to-back games against Oklahoma State and TCU, Cincinnati has fallen out of the tournament field.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had Cincinnati listed in the “First Four Out” category heading into the final five games of conference play. Still, with the issues on the court continuing for Wes Miller’s squad, the Bearcats will have to face an uphill battle to earn a tournament invite.

Cincinnati currently sits in 11th place in the Big 12 Conference with an overall record of 16-11 and 5-9 in conference play. The Bearcats have picked up three Quad 1 wins this season with wins over Texas Tech, TCU, and BYU.

One of the many blessings of playing as members of the Big 12 Conference are the consistent opportunities to earn signature wins. Cincinnati will have two more opportunities for Q1 wins in their final four games against No. 1 Houston and Oklahoma.

While Cincinnati still has an outside shot of making the tournament as the unofficial 77th-ranked team in the latest bracketology update, the Bearcats will need to record some big wins down the stretch to sneak into the field. If Cincinnati can pull off a massive upset against Houston and finish their season with three wins in their final four matchups, Wes Miller’s squad could become the Big 12 Conference’s 10th representative in the tournament field.
