Kansas G Kevin McCullar Out vs. BYU
Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks will be without senior guard Kevin McCullar for the second-straight game on Tuesday vs. BYU.
McCullar has been dealing with a lingering knee injury that’s kept him sidelined for three of the Jayhawks last four games.
Kansas head coach Bill Self spoke on McCullar’s status ahead of the BYU game saying, “Definitely will not play tomorrow.” He then stressed the importance of introducing the Texas native back on the court at the right time in order to avoid a slow start. “If you start playing him after the Big 12 Tournament, he wouldn’t be worth a crap in the NCAA Tournament,” Self said.
The senior guard is currently averaging 19.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in his fifth college basketball season. McCullar has recorded 15 or more points in 19 straight games for Kansas this season, with his biggest game of the year coming against Yale on December 22nd, where he recorded 34 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
Kansas hosts BYU on Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas at 7:00 PM CT.
