Kansas G Nick Timberlake Argues in Favor of Court-Storming
The topic of court storming has been a major topic to follow among those in the college basketball community over the past few weeks with sports personalities, players, coaches, and more chiming in on the topic.
Kansas guard Nick Timberlake was the most recent person to voice his opinion at a Monday press conference where he supported the notion of safe court-storming.
According to a report from Kansas247’s Michael Swain, Timberlake doesn’t want court storming removed from college basketball. He then mentioned that Kansas players understand that they need to be near the sidelines towards the end of a game because a court storm could take place at any moment.
Court storming has been a major talking point during the 2023-24 season, with stars like Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and Duke’s Kyle Filipowski being run into by opposing fans sprinting onto the court. Filipowski tweeted a cryptic message after colliding with a Wake Forrest fan in the wake of an upset loss, saying, “This gotta change.”
The Field of 68’s Rob Dauster discussed a possible solution to solve unsafe court stormings on social media saying, “Start a shot clock as soon as a game goes final. Give the visiting team 30 seconds to get off the court and down the tunnel. You get a countdown and you give the home team and home fans a chance to have their court storm.”
Timberlake and the Jayhawks will have to fight off another court-storming opportunity against BYU on Tuesday, February 27th, at 7:00 PM CT on ESPN+.
