Porter Moser on Court Storming: ‘I Think We’re Going to Have to Eliminate Them’

NCAA Basketball: Oklahoma at Kansas

With coaches around the nation chiming in on the topic of court storming, Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser offered his thoughts on the situation.

Moser was vocal about the idea of putting an end to court storming, saying, “I think we’re just going to have to eliminate them.”

Moser was asked for his thoughts on court storming during his Monday press conference which prompted him to say, “As you know, a couple of months ago, I was like, how can we make this work? I think I’ve changed my tune. I think we’re just going to have to eliminate them.”

Court storming has been a major talking point during the 2023-24 season, with stars like Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and Duke’s Kyle Filipowski being run into by opposing fans sprinting onto the court. Filipowski tweeted a cryptic message after the collision with a Wake Forrest fan, saying, “This gotta change.”

While Iowa’s Caitlin Clark made it out of the situation relatively unscathed, the same cannot be said for Duke’s Kyle Filipowski. The Duke big man was carried off the court by his teammates following the collision which prompted a large conversation about the unsafe nature of court storming. As one of the nation’s top NBA Draft prospects, Filipowski injury means much more than just a few games absence.

As many believe change is coming in the form of new protection rules regarding court storming, at least for the moment, court stormings will continue to be a major topic of conversation.
