Cincinnati G CJ Fredrick Out vs. Kansas State
Wes Miller and the Cincinnati Bearcats are a few hours out from a must-win game against Kansas State in order to keep hopes of an NCAA Tournament bid alive.
The road to the tournament just got even harder, with senior guard CJ Fredrick sidelined for the Bearcats’ 16th game in conference play.
According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Fredrick will miss the game against Kansas State with his status for the remainder of the season uncertain.
Fredrick has been an important part of Wes Miller’s squad this season in limited games, averaging 6.1 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 rebounds per game in his fourth season of college basketball. The Ohio native has been one of the best shooting threats for UC this season, with his three-point average listed at a blazing 42.6%.
Coming out of high school, Fredrick was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 223rd-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 47th-ranked shooting guard in his class and the third-ranked player in the state of Kentucky.
Despite initial excitement surrounding the addition of the former Kentucky guard, Fredrick’s injury woes have kept him absent for a large duration this year, only seeing action in 15 games for Cincinnati. Kansas State and Cincinnati will tip off at the Fifth Third Arena on Saturday, March 2nd, at 6:00 PM CT.
