The NCAA Tournament is just a few weeks away at this point, and it won’t be long before we’re refreshing timelines religiously to see what the 68-team field looks like.

Every few days, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi gives an update on his bracket projections, better known as Bracketology, and he’s been very high on the Big 12.

In his latest projection, there are nine Big 12 teams in the tournament, leading all conferences for the most projected selections.

However, there’s a chance the league could see even more teams in the field, as Kansas State is one of 16 teams clinging to hope on the bubble.

Following back-to-back wins over No. 25 BYU and West Virginia, the Wildcats find themselves in the “Next Four Out” category as the 73rd-ranked team in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update.

K-State still needs a few more wins to earn a tournament bid in 2023-24, and with matchups against Cincinnati, No. 7 Kansas, and No. 8 Iowa State remaining, it won’t be easy.

Saturday’s game between Kansas State and Cincinnati is one of the most crucial games of the season for the Wildcats, as both teams currently sit on the bubble in the update. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the winner will likely find themselves in the tournament field while the loser will not.

Cincinnati will have an uphill battle down a starter with CJ Fredrick on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury. Still, the Wildcats and Bearcats will tip at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, with the broadcast on ESPN+.
