Houston F Joseph Tugler to Miss Remainder of 2023-24 Season
In a disappointing news update from head coach Kelvin Sampson, Houston forward Joseph Tugler will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season with a foot injury.
The loss is a significant setback for Houston as Tugler became an important rotation piece for Kelvin Sampson’s bench.
The 6-foot-7 freshman joined the Cougars in the Class of 2023 and was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index. Tugler also checked in as the nation’s 68th-ranked prospect, the ninth-ranked center, and the fourth-ranked player in the state of Texas.
In his freshman season, the Texas native is currently averaging 3.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game on 55.1% shooting from the field. His biggest game of the season came against Pennsylvania on December 30th, where he recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and one assist.
Houston will take the floor two more times in the regular season with a chance to claim a Big 12 title in their first year as members of the league. The Cougars take the court next Wednesday, March 6th, against the UCF Knights and will close out the season against No. 14 Kansas in Houston.
