Hunter Dickinson and Bill Self Discuss Comparison to Kansas City Chiefs

NCAA Basketball: Kansas at Indiana

While the Kansas Jayhawks have found themselves in a bit of a down year throughout the 2023-24 season, Hunter Dickinson believes they can pull off a Chiefs-like response in the NCAA Tournament.

Dickinson mentioned that he “Gained some more confidence because I went on Twitter and saw someone compare us to the Chiefs. They had a rough stretch during the regular season and came through when it mattered the most.”

While the optimism from Dickinson left some hope for members of the team and the Kansas fanbase, Bill Self chimed in on the comparison with a witty reply.

When asked for his thoughts on the comparison, Self mentioned, “There could be a similarity there. The difference is, they’ve done it.”

The Jayhawks will have two games remaining in the regular season before heading to Kansas City for the upcoming Big 12 Tournament. Kansas will take on in-state rival Kansas State in the Sunflower Showdown in Lawrence before closing out the season on the road against No. 1 Houston.

If the tournament began today, Kansas would occupy the fifth-seed in the Big 12 Championship Bracket and a four-seed in March Madness courtesy of the latest Bracketology Update from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Tuesday’s matchup between Kansas and Kansas State tips off at 8:00 PM CT at Allen Fieldhouse.
