Hunter Dickinson on Participating in Senior Night: ‘This Doesn’t Mean It’s It For Me’
Kansas center Hunter Dickinson has been kicking around the decision to return to Kansas for a fifth year with the Jayhawks in 2024-25.
Despite planning to go through senior night on Tuesday ahead of the Sunflower Showdown, Dickinson addressed his decision by saying, “This doesn’t mean it’s it for me.”
Dickinson spent three seasons playing at Michigan before electing to transfer to Kansas in 2023-24. In his senior season, the Virginia native is currently averaging 18.3 points per game while leading the Big 12 in total rebounds per game with 10.7.
While the possibility of Dickinson declaring for the NBA Draft is still on the table, his first year with the program has been somewhat of a disappointment. Dickinson has played First-Team All-Big 12 level basketball, but with the Jayhawks dropping to 14th in the latest AP Poll and losing the most conference games of Bill Self’s career, it is likely to assume that the former Wolverine will be hungry for more.
Dickinson will be one of four speakers on Kansas’ senior night, joining Parker Braun, Nick Timberlake, and Michael Jankovich. For those wondering, Self mentioned that since senior guard Kevin McCullar gave a speech last year, he would not be speaking again on Tuesday.
Dickinson and the Jayhawks will take the court Tuesday, March 5th, against their in-state rivals, Kansas State and the Sunflower Showdown. The game tips off at 8:00 PM CT on ESPN.
