Rodney Terry Claims Baylor Needed ‘Every Call’ to Complete Comeback
Texas head coach Rodney Terry continues to find reasons to complain to anyone who is willing to listen.
After blowing a double-digit lead on Big Monday on the road against Baylor, Terry was asked about his team’s status for the NCAA Tournament after the 93-85 loss in Waco. Terry said, “We’re one of the best teams in the country. We can play with anybody. We come into a hostile environment, I don’t know what they guys are ranked today, but they [Baylor] needed every call they could get today in terms of getting it done here at home. So what else do you have to do? We’re a good team. We can play with anybody on any given night.“
Never mind the fact that Baylor crushed Texas on the boards 37-21 and hit 69% from three-point range, I guess it was all about the calls from the officials, or something. Also, his own star Max Abmas missed four shots in the last 10 minutes of action and was not nearly as big of a factor has he had been for the first 30 minutes of play.
Texas was called for 27 fouls compared to 17 on the Bears, but anyone watching the game knows that UT was playing aggressive, and very handsy, all game. That’s what happens, sometimes.
In Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology, the Texas Longhorns are listed as a No. 8 seed in the East taking on No. 9 Michigan State. The winner of the game, per the Bracketology, would likely take on No. 1 UConn. UConn beat Texas 81-71 during non-conference play.
But for Texas, they will wrap up the regular season on Saturday against Oklahoma before the Big 12 Tournament begins next week in Kansas City.
