TCU Beats Oklahoma State 68-66 in Big 12 Women’s Tournament
On Friday, the TCU Horned Frogs narrowly took down the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 68-66, in the second round of the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.
TCU (20-10) will face Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the third round of the tournament. With the loss, the Cowgirls (14-16) wrapped up their 2023-2024 Big 12 campaign.
The Horned Frogs entered the game after winning four of their last five outings, with the lone loss coming on March 2nd in the season finale, 57-49, against the West Virginia Mountaineers. During the stretch, TCU took down the tournament’s No. 10, No. 11, No. 12, and No. 13 seed.
While the Horned Frogs were able to sneak an upset victory over Jacie Hoyt and the No. 8 Oklahoma State Cowgirls, OSU came out of the second half firing on all cylinders and took control of the game. Oklahoma State rallied back from a 33-25 halftime deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Still, TCU could find buckets when they needed them most, thanks to some second-half heroics from Sedona Prince, Agnes Emma-Nnopu, and Una Jovanovic.
The trio did the majority of scoring for TCU on Friday, recording 52 of the team’s 68 points. Jovanovic led the team with a career-high 22 points, followed by 17 from Emma-Nnopu and 13 from Prince.
For Oklahoma State, senior guard Quincy Noble stole the show. The Texas native put up some incredible numbers, including 26 points, four assists, and two rebounds.
The Cowgirls finished the season, losing eight of their last 11 games. The team’s win came on February 27th, Senior Hight in Stillwater vs. West Virginia.
