Iowa State Moves Back to No. 2 Seed After Duke Loss
Following an upset loss to the Kansas State Wildcats in the season finale, the Iowa State Cyclones dropped from a 2-seed to a 3-seed in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update.
However, after the Duke Blue Devils dropped a game to North Carolina. Lunardi bumped the Cyclones back to a 2-seed.
Despite Saturday’s loss, Iowa State was incredible throughout the 2023-24 regular season. T.J. Otzelberger led his squad to an impressive 24-7 overall record and 13-5 in conference play. Part of what made the Cyclones’ success so remarkable is that they joined the Houston Cougars as the only two teams in the league with perfect records at home.
Iowa State enters the 2024 Big 12 Tournament as the two-seed and will take the court for the first time in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 14th. The Cyclones have an opportunity to maintain their two-seed or improve their stock with a deep tournament run, and given Iowa State’s success when traveling to Kansas City, T.J. Otzelberger’s team should be hungry to compete.
The Big 12 Tournament will begin at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Tuesday, March 12th, at 11:30 a.m. CT, between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the UCF Knights.
