AP Women’s Basketball Poll: Four Big 12 Teams Land in Top 25

The Big 12 had four teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday as the Big 12 Tournament continued in Kansas City.

The Big 12 Tournament has semifinals between Iowa State and Oklahoma, and Texas and Kansas City, set for Monday, with the championship game set for 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner will get the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

 

Those teams included:

Texas at No. 5 (No. 6 last week);

Kansas State at No. 16 (No. 16 last week);

Oklahoma at No. 17 (No. 19 last week);

Baylor at No. 19 (No. 17 last week);

Texas (28-4) defeated Kansas, 76-60, in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday. Texas has won 10 of its last 11 entering its game with Kansas State.   

Kansas State (25-6) beat West Virginia, 65-62, and has won four of its last six entering Monday’s game with Texas.  

Oklahoma (22-8) beat TCU, 69-53, in the quarterfinals on Saturday and has won 13 of its last 15 games entering Monday’s contest with Iowa State.   

Baylor (24-7) wrapped up it Big 12 Tournament action with a second-round win over Texas Tech, 71-60, and a quarterfinal loss to Iowa State, 67-62. The Bears now wait a week to find out where they will be seeded in the NCAA Tournament.
