Houston forward J’Wan Roberts exited Friday’s Big 12 Tournament Semifinal game against Texas Tech with an undisclosed injury.

Roberts went down under his own basket ahead of the under 16 media timeout, and with help from the Houston athletic staff, was taken to the locker room.

Roberts had been previously dealing with a lingering knee injury this season, which prompted head coach Kelvin Sampson to mention that Roberts was getting fluid drained from his knee every 2-3 weeks and would likely need a knee scope after the season. While the injury was a scary sight for fans of the Big 12 Tournament, Roberts eventually would return at the 12:00 minute mark in the first half.

Coming out of high school, Roberts was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 153rd-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 24th-ranked power forward in his class and the 16th-ranked player in the state of Texas.

Roberts’ biggest game of the season came against TCU on January 13th where he recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks.

While Roberts’ status for the remainder of the Big 12 Tournament is likely up in the air, the Cougars have much bigger fish to fry in the NCAA Tournament with the Cougars likely earning a one-seed in March Madness.
