Texas Longhorns Receive No. 7 Seed in 2024 NCAA Tournament

The 2024 NCAA Tournament selection committee has given the Texas Longhorns the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Regional.

Texas will take on the winner of Virginia/Colorado State on Thursday in Charlotte. Virginia and Colorado State will play for the No. 10 seed and a matchup vs. Texas. The winner will play either No. 2 seed Tennessee or No. 15 seed St. Peter’s.

Texas enters March Madness in its final year as a member of the Big 12 Conference. Rodney Terry’s group left the Big 12 Conference with an eighth-place finish in league play.

 

Texas finished the regular season with a 20-12 record, including a 9-9 record in Big 12 play.

Texas was awarded a 2-seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, where the team advanced to the Elite Eight before being taken down by No. 5 Miami, 88-81.

The Longhorns are led by senior forward Dylan Disu, who averaged 15.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this season. He was among five players honored on the All-Big 12 First Team alongside Jamal Shead, Tamin Lipsey, Kevin McCullar, and Hunter Dickinson.

Texas has made 36 NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching three Final Fours and eight Elite Eights (1939, 1943, 1947, 1990, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2023). The Longhorns’ overall record in March Madness is 39-40.
