Oklahoma State’s Brandon Garrison Enters Transfer Portal
A potential exodus at Oklahoma State got started on Monday morning as Brandon Garrison, a former four-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American, entered the transfer portal after it opened on March 18.
Garrison, a 6-foot-11 center from Oklahoma State, started 29 games in his freshman season with the Pokes and averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks on the season.
Garrison chose Oklahoma State as a member of the 2023 Class, snubbing finalists Kansas, Texas, and Arkansas in the process. It is worth noting that Garrison’s entry into the portal does come with a “no-contact” tag, meaning there’s a good chance he already knows where his next destination might be.
According to ESPN, he was ranked the No. 42 player and No. 5 center in the class and is the first 2023 McDonald’s All-American to enter the portal this cycle.
The Oklahoma State basketball program is going through plenty of changes this offseason after the program elected to part ways with head coach Mike Boynton after seven seasons.
Boynton, who was fired last Friday, was 119-109 (.522) during his time in Stillwater, and despite a winning record took the Pokes to the NCAA Tournament just once.
Garrison’s entry into the portal was followed by reports that the Cowboys’ leading scorer, Javon Small, was also going to look elsewhere for an opportunity in 2024-25.
Whoever takes over the program in Stillwater will likely have a tough job on their hands, as there’s a very good chance the Pokes’ roster will need a complete overhaul going into next season.
