Arizona State QB Jaden Rashada to Miss Spring Football with Thumb Surgery
Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada will miss spring football this season after undergoing thumb surgery.
According to a report from Sun Devil Source’s Chris Karpman, the surgery Rashada is recovering from happened during the previous season but was not sustained while playing football.
“Rashada had surgery to repair damage from a non-football-related incident a couple of months ago,” Karpman wrote. “He told people the injury happened while lifting a box as he prepared to move to a different home. He should resume throwing activity by the end of April and is expected to be fully cleared later this spring, people familiar with the injury told Sun Devil Source. “
Rashada, a 6-foot-4 freshman quarterback from California, started three games last season for the Sun Devils against Southern Utah, Oklahoma State, and Arizona. He finished his first season of college football with 44 completions for 485 yards and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 4-3.
Coming out of Pittsburg High School in the Class of 2023, Rashada was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 44th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the sixth-ranked quarterback in his class and the fourth-ranked player in the state of California.
While Rashada will have to miss spring football in Tempe, he will have a lot of time to recover before the team takes the field for the first time as a member of the Big 12 Conference. Arizona State kicks off the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st, against Wyoming.
