Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners won a massive recruiting battle on Friday with 2025 four-star running back Tory Blaylock committing to Oklahoma.

The Sooners beat out the likes of Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Oregon who all made the final cutdown list for Blaylock.

Prior to picking up the Oklahoma hat and confirming his decision, the Texas native put on the Longhorns hat on the table before one of his family members held up a large arrow directed down. The newest Sooner embraced the rivalry with Texas implying the Horns Down signal on his commitment day.

Coming out of Atascocita High School in the Class of 2025, Blaylock was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 219th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 21st-ranked running back in his class and the 33rd-ranked player in the state of Texas.

Blaylock spoke on the decision to commit to Oklahoma with OUInsider’s Parker Thune, saying, “My family’s big on prayer and praying over things that are really important in our lives. I just feel like Oklahoma just stood out from everywhere else. I could make pros and cons lists and all that stuff, but Oklahoma stands out. It’s a really special place. And when my family was like, ‘We feel like this is the place for you,’ I just knew that was definitely when I was going to commit.”

With his commitment, the Sooners’ Class of 2025 jumped to the fifth-best class in the country. Blaylock became the 10th prospect to commit to Oklahoma and will head to Norman alongside some talented teammates.
