Oklahoma F John Hugley IV Enters Transfer Portal
Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners are losing another key player this offseason, with junior center John Hugley IV entering his name into the transfer portal.
After three years with the Pittsburgh Panthers, Hugley spent one season in Norman. Despite dealing with injuries in his senior season, Hugley should have plenty of suitors in the portal.
Hugley was a significant contributor to Porter Moser’s squad throughout the 2023-24 season and posted impressive numbers. The Ohio native recorded 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game on 54.8% shooting from the field. His biggest game of the season came against UTRGV on November 17th, when he scored 16 points, eight rebounds, and one assist.
Coming out of high school in the Class of 2020, Hugley was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 99th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 19th-ranked center in his class and the second-ranked player in the state of Ohio.
Hugley is Oklahoma’s second starter lost this offseason, joining sophomore guard Otega Oweh in the transfer portal. While key losses continue to pile up in Norman, Porter Moser should have some options available for replacement, with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college basketball history.
