Kansas State Forward Jerrell Colbert Enters Transfer Portal
Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats lost a third player this offseason, sophomore forward Jerrell Colbert, who elected to enter his name into the transfer portal.
Colbert, a 6-foot-10 sophomore from Houston, played limited minutes for the Wildcats in 2023-24 but earned a starting job halfway through the season.
After spending his freshman season with the LSU Tigers, Colbert transferred to Kansas State. After redshirting for the Wildcats’ Elite Eight run in 2022-23, Colbert saw an increase in playtime as a redshirt sophomore in Manhattan. The Texas native averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game on 47.5% shooting from the field.
Coming out of Houston High School, Colbert was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 108th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 15th-ranked center in his class and the third-ranked player in the state of Tennessee.
With one critical developmental piece electing to leave Manhattan in search of greener pastures, Jerome Tang will have to fill in some depth pieces this offseason. Still, with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college basketball history, Tang should have some options available for replacement.
