Former Northern Iowa Guard Nate Heise Transfers to Iowa State

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Basketball Tipoff

T.J. Otzelberger and the Iowa State Cyclones are adding a new name to their 2024 roster with the addition of former Northern Iowa guard Nate Heise in the transfer portal.

Heise spent four seasons at UNI from 2020-2024 and will now team up Otz and the Cyclones for his final year of eligibility.

Heise, a 6-foot-5 guard from Minnesota, received Third-Team All-MVC honors in 2023-24, averaging 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game on 46.3% shooting from the field.

“First off, I am grateful for the 4 years I have spent at UNI,” Heise said in a post. “I have made lifelong relationships with the coaches, staff, players, and fans. I would also like to thank the coaches that have taken the time to recruit me these last few weeks. With that being said, I would like to announce my commitment to Iowa State. I am beyond excited to compete as a Cyclone.”

Heise became the Cyclones’ second addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining Charlotte transfer center Dishon Jackson who joined Iowa State on March 25th. While Otzelberger and company will still need to add some more studs through the transfer portal to make up for some of their losses, the additions of Jackson and Heise go along way towards back-to-back successful seasons.
