West Virginia’s Kerr Kriisa Enters Transfer Portal
While West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries will have a shot at retaining key players from the previous roster in Morgantown, one player on the move is senior guard Kerr Kriisa.
According to a report from 24/7 High School Hoops on X, Kriisa has officially entered his name into the portal and wants to join a new program.
Kriisa, a 6-foot-3 guard from Estonia, elected to remain in Morgantown for the 2023-24 season despite head coach Bob Huggins’ resignation. Kriisa averaging 11.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game on 42.9% shooting from the field. He transferred to West Virginia after spending his first three seasons with the Arizona Wildcats.
Coming out of high school, Kriisa was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index, the nation’s 69th-ranked player, the 12th-ranked player at his position, and the top-ranked player in Estonia.
Kerr is one of two Mountaineers to hit the transfer portal this offseason, joining junior guard Seth Wilson, who announced his decision on March 26th.
While the loss of Kriisa is a big one in Morgantown, DeVries has the opportunity to build his roster from scratch through the transfer portal. The team already landed a significant commitment from Tucker, DeVries, son of the Mountaineers head coach, which should go a long way towards taking a step forward in conference play.
