Texas Tech forward Devan Cambridge has reportedly changed his mind concerning his pending transfer portal entry.

After initially reporting that the 6-foot-6 senior was planning to look for somewhere else to spend his final year of eligibility, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Thursday that Cambridge “no longer plans to enter the transfer portal and will return to Lubbock for another season.”

Tipton also says that this report comes straight from Cambridge himself, as did the original report, which stated that he intended to enter the portal on Tuesday.

Before suffering a season-ending knee injury in December, Cambridge started eight games for the Red Raiders and was a key component for TTU early on. In those contests, he averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds on 26 minutes per game.

With Cambridge now expected back, Grant McCasland will have six players from the 2023-24 roster to work with next year, as Darrion Williams, Chance McMillian, Kerwin Walton, Eemeli Yalaho and Jack Francis are also expected to return.

Finding a replacement for Pop Isaacs will be key to their success, but having six pieces to work with will certainly help soften the blow of his departure as McCasland searches for his next addition.
