Ayoka Lee Returning to Kansas State for Seventh Season of College Basketball

Kansas State center Ayoka Lee (50) is greeted by teammates Zyanna Walker, left, and Taryn Sides during NCAA women's basketball game against Iowa, Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

Ayoka Lee‘s career in purple isn’t done yet. The Kansas State women’s basketball program released a video on Sunday night announcing their star center will return for the 2024-25 season.

The video was titled, “Not done yet…”.

Lee is the NCAA all-time record holder for points in a single game (61 vs. Oklahoma in 2023) and will return for her seventh season of college basketball. Lee will also try to become the first player to ever earn First-Team All-Big 12 honors five times.

Lee arrived at K-State in 2018, but retains eligibility due to a redshirt as a true freshman, a medical redshirt in 2022-23 and an extra year, provided to all student-athletes, from the 2020 COVID pandemic which canceled the 2020 NCAA tournament.

Lee averaged 19.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game for the Wildcats this past season, and the Cats had their best year under Jeff Mittie. The program won 26 games and earned a spot as a first weekend host in the NCAA tournament. K-State was a No. 4 seed and beat Portland in the first round, but then lost to No. 5 seed Colorado in the second round.

Lee will look to break the program’s all-time scoring record held by Kendra Wecker fairly early in the season. Lee has scored 2,194 points in her college career, while Wecker’s record is 2,333 points.
