Iowa State Lands Seattle Transfer Forward Brandton Chatfield

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Basketball Tipoff

T.J. Otzelberger and the Iowa State Cyclones added their third player through the transfer portal this offseason with the addition of Seattle transfer forward Brandton Chatfield.

Chatfield started his career at Washington State but has spent the previous three seasons as a key contributor for Seattle.

In his junior season with the Redhawks, the Washington native posted some impressive numbers. Chatfield averaged 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds on 60.1% shooting from the field. His biggest game of the season came against Idaho on November 22nd, where he scored 19 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

Chatfield, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Clarkston, Washington, was unranked by most major recruiting services coming out of high school in the Class of 2019. He elected to walk on at Washington State to play for Kyle Smith and transferred to Seattle as a redshirt freshman in 2021.

Chatfield became the third player to join the Cyclones this offseason, alongside Charlotte transfer Dishon Jackson and UNI transfer Nate Heise.

With three roster spots officially accounted for at Iowa State through the portal, T.J. Otzelberger now has just two remaining scholarship spots to fill ahead of the 2024-25 season.
