The Houston Cougars got another big lift on Wednesday night when Emanuel Sharp announced he would be returning for the 2024-25 season.

Sharp shared his announcement on his social media pages.

With the news, Houston has officially returned four of its five starters from this past season in which the Cougars won the regular season Big 12 Title on their way to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The news comes on the same day LJ Cryer announced he would be returning for one more season with the Cougars.

Sharp averaged 12.5 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season. His best came of the season came in the second round of the NCAA Tournament when he led the Cougars with 30 points on 8-16 shooting in a 100-95 overtime win against Texas A&M. He went 7-14 from three-point range in the game.

On the season, Sharp shot 37% from three-point range, up from 35% the prior season.

Now, Houston is just waiting to find out Jamal Shead’s next move. The Big 12 Player of the Year does have one year of eligibility left to use, if he so chooses, rather than going to the NBA Draft.
