Everything You Need to Know About Kansas Football Spring Showcase

The Kansas Jayhawks are coming off their best football season in 15 years and reaching back-to-back bowl games for only the second time in program history.

Head coach Lance Leipold has been the center of the turnaround, and the entire program, including facilities, is getting a facelift under his leadership. The Jayhawks have many returning starters, and there are high hopes that KU will be able to compete for a Big 12 championship in 2024.

All of these factors have fans more excited for Kansas football than maybe any other time in the school’s history, and many want to see these Jayhawks sooner than the end of August.

If you’re one of those KU football fans, we have good news for you: It’s almost time for Jayhawk football.

Event Details

The annual Kansas Football Spring Showcase is set to take place this Friday, April 12th, at 7 p.m. at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas. The Spring Showcase will feature activities for the whole family to go along with the featured football. The family-friendly festivities (featuring the Family Fun Zone with inflatables, face painters, balloon artists, and more) will begin at 5:30 p.m. Chick-fil-A, and Kona Ice will have food trucks on site near the softball field. KU students in attendance will be able to take advantage of a free concessions voucher at the Student Union Activities table on the concourse.

Gates will open at Rock Chalk Park at 5:30 p.m., and admission is free. No tickets are required, but admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis at the 6,000-fan capacity event. Metal detectors will be used upon entry for the safety of everyone attending the event, and a clear bag policy will be enforced. You can find more info on the clear bag policy here.

Parking will be free at all surrounding Rock Chalk Park lots and the LMH Health parking lot on Rock Chalk Drive. Shuttles will transport fans from the LMH Health parking lots to the south entrance of Rock Chalk Park. The Jayhawk Radio Network will cover the Spring Showcase, and a video broadcast will be available on ESPN+ in the days following.

Who’s Returning?

Kansas Football is coming off a 9-4 season in 2023, including a big win in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl against UNLV for the program’s first bowl victory since 2008. The Jayhawks won nine games in a season for just the seventh time in program history. Leipold will welcome back several key members of the 2023 team, including one of the most high-powered offenses with quarterback Jalon Daniels, running back Devin Neal, and receivers Lawrence Arnold, Luke Grimm, and Quentin Skinner.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kansas will bring back two-time first-team All-Big 12 cornerback Cobee Bryant, along with the team’s other starting cornerback, Mello Dotson. The team will also return defensive standouts Jereme Robinson, Marvin Grant Jr., JB Brown, Taiwan Berryhill, and others.

What’s New?

Things will look a bit differently on campus this spring as the university is well underway with the University of Kansas Gateway project. The new and improved David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is expected to be ready by the start of the 2025 season, but the Jayhawks will play their home games off campus in 2024. The first two games against Lindenwood and UNLV will be played at Children’s Mercy Park, the home of Sporting Kansas City and Major League Soccer. The four Big 12 Conference games against Colorado, TCU, Houston, and Iowa State will take place at the home of the Kansas City Chiefs in GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

If you like what you see during the Spring Showcase, special season ticket packages will be available to fans looking to support the Jayhawks throughout the 2024 season. You can get a full six-game season ticket package beginning at $275. There will also be a family zone opportunity for $200 per ticket. Full-season ticket holders for the 2024 season will have priority for the 2025 season. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase a special four-game package for games solely at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and those are slated to go on sale June 3. Single-game tickets will go on sale at a later date.
