REPORT: Kentucky Planning to Meet With Scott Drew ‘In the Near Future’

NCAA Basketball: Baylor at Kansas

John Calipari announced his resignation as the University of Kentucky head basketball coach on Tuesday, and now, less than 24 hours later, he’s the head coach at Arkansas.

The dominoes that fall after Calipari’s move could have a major impact on the rest of the country, and it appears that Baylor is the first school that might have to deal with the immediate ramifications.

According to Jon Rothstein, Kentucky is planning to meet with Baylor head basketball coach Scott Drew “regarding its head coaching vacancy in the near future.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that Kentucky would make Drew turn down the job before moving on to other candidates, which would corroborate with the report we are now seeing from Rothstein.

Drew is also the heavy-betting favorite to land the UK job, as BetOnline had him listed at 1/1 odds when they opened.

This isn’t the first job in the Bluegrass State that has had an eye for Drew, as Louisville reportedly had him listed as their “clear No. 1 choice” before opting to hire Pat Kelsey.

Will the Wildcats be able to do what the Cardinals couldn’t and lure Scott Drew away from Waco? The flight trackers suggest that it’s a strong possibility.
