Arizona senior defensive lineman Bill Norton became the first Big 12 football player to hit the transfer portal ahead of the opening of the spring transfer window.

Norton started his career off at Georgia, and after transferring to Arizona in 2023, the Tennessee native started all 13 games for the Wildcats.

Norton didn’t see much action in his four-year career with the Bulldogs but did see the field a lot under Jedd Fisch in 2023. The senior defensive lineman recorded 31 total tackles, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in his fifth season of college football.

Coming out of Christian Brothers High School in the Class of 2019, Norton was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 100th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the eighth-ranked player at his position and the third-ranked player in Tennessee.

With Norton hitting the portal, he became the first of what many are expecting to be an incredible wave of portal entries around the nation. Arizona may be the first team in the league to lose a player this spring, but they will definitely not be the last.
