Kansas State Picks Up Crystal Ball to Land Five-Star Duke Transfer Mark Mitchell

NCAA Basketball: Kansas at Kansas State

Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats just picked up a crystal ball to land former McDonald’s All-American and five-star prospect Mark Mitchell through the transfer portal.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-9 prospect from Kansas City, Kansas, has some ties to Kansas State after playing on the same high school team as current Wildcat Taj Manning.

Wildcat Authority’s Jason Scheer placed his crystal ball pick in favor of Kansas State at 1:04 p.m. on Friday, April 12th.

Upon entering his name into the portal, the Sunrise Christian Alumni was listed as the tenth-best player available in the transfer portal and the third-ranked player at his position. The sophomore forward was a big piece of the Blue Devils’ offense in 2023-24, averaging 11.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in his second season of college basketball.

Coming out of high school in the Class of 2022, Mitchell was listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 13th-ranked player. He also checked in as the third-ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in the state of Kansas.

While Scheer believes Kansas State will land Mitchell in the transfer portal, Jerome Tang and company have their eyes set on two other players this weekend. UIC transfer CJ Jones and Florida State transfer Baba Miller are on official campus visits and will likely get the first looks to join the roster.
