Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats are not messing around this offseason when it comes to the transfer portal.

With just one big man on the roster, senior forward David N’Guessan, Kansas State has been looking to replace its starting center and has quickly lined up an official visit with the best player in the portal.

Kansas State lined up an official campus visit on April 19th-21st with Arizona transfer center Oumar Ballo, who is currently listed as the top-ranked player in the transfer portal on both On3 and 247Sports.

Oumar Ballo entered the transfer portal on April 8th and became the biggest name to hit the portal this offseason after posting some incredible numbers during the 2023-24 season. The senior center averaged a double-double, with 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in his fourth season of college basketball.

Coming out of high school in the Class of 2019, Ballo was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 66th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 16th-ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in Mali.

Kansas State has already made one major splash this offseason with Michigan transfer Dug McDaniel. If the team can earn a commitment from Oumar Ballo, Jerome Tang’s squad should have a great shot at competing for a Big 12 title in 2024-25.

To do so, the Wildcats will need to beat out Indiana, Louisville, Florida, and North Carolina for the big man’s services.
