While it’s no secret that Colorado’s Travis Hunter is one of the top athletes in the nation, a recent list from 247Sports awarded Hunter the title of the top overall player in college football.

247Sports’ Blake Brockermeyer crowned Hunter the top overall player, after ranking the Top 100 Players of 2024.

“Travis Hunter leads my list as CB1 and top overall player in the country entering the 2024 season,” Brockermeyer said. “He is a generational player and, if he took fewer snaps offensively, would be even more effective for Colorado’s defense. I would love Colorado to limit his reps offensively to 10-to-15 snaps this season and maximize his ability, even though Hunter seems unfazed by fatigue.

Hunter earned the title of the nation’s best in his sophomore season at Colorado putting up impressive numbers on both sides of the ball. As the Buffaloes top cornerback, Hunter recorded 31 total tackles, three interceptions, and five pass breakups in limited action due to injury. On offense, the Georgia native posted 57 catches for 721 yards and five touchdowns.

Brockermeyer concluded his thoughts by saying, “Ultimately, there is no doubt that he’s a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and one of the biggest playmakers we have seen. He can flip the outcome of a game in decades.”

Hunter and the Buffaloes kick off their first season since 2010 as members of the Big 12 Conference on Saturday, August 31st, against the North Dakota State Bison.
