Colorado Leads All Big 12 Football Teams with Spring Transfer Portal Entries After Day 1

Oct 7, 2023; Tempe, Arizona, USA; Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders walks the sidelines as his team takes on the ASU Sun Devils at Mountain America Stadium.

The spring transfer portal window opened on Tuesday at midnight, and hundreds of players have already registered to seek new opportunities.

The Big 12 hasn’t been immune to the flurry of entries, either. At the time this was published, the conference had over 25 players officially in the system.

Of all the programs in the Big 12 that are set to lose pieces in this cycle, Colorado has seen the worst of it in the first 36 hours, and by a long shot.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 29 Big 12 football players had officially entered the transfer portal, and over a third of those entries were from Boulder, Colorado.

  • Cormani McClain (RS-FR), DB
  • Chazz Wallace (JR), DL
  • Tar’varish Dawson (RS-SO), WR
  • Savion Washington (SR), OT
  • Myles Slusher (JR), S
  • David Conner (RS-FR), OT
  • Zach Blackwood (SR), DL
  • Jacob Page (FR), WR
  • Isaiah Jatta (JR), OT
  • Jaden Milliner-Jones (FR), S

Colorado’s 10 portal entries are well ahead of any other school in the Big 12 at this point, and it’s not like they’re small losses either. That group includes starting offensive linemen, five-star recruits, and starting-level and rotation-level players.

Cincinnati, Utah, and UCF have tied for the second-most entries with three each, showing just how far ahead of everyone else Colorado is right now.

Since the exodus began, Deion Sanders’ sons–Shilo and Shedeur–have taken to Instagram to try and get some more winning pieces into Boulder before the 2024 season. With even more players likely to hit the road, I’d say they’ll need all the help they can get.
