Deion Sanders’ Kids are Recruiting the Transfer Portal on Instagram

NCAA Football: Colorado at Arizona State

The spring transfer portal window has opened, and hundreds of players have already entered their names in hopes of landing a better NIL deal or better playing opportunity elsewhere.

In Boulder (Colo.), Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have been forced to live and die by the transfer portal, as the incredible overhaul of the CU roster has been done almost exclusively via the portal.

Unfortunately for Coach Prime, this portal window has been much more subtractive in this cycle than it’s been additive. The Buffs have seen nine players enter the portal since it opened at midnight on Tuesday, including five-star CB Cormani McClain, and have yet to get a commitment since then.

Sanders has put a lot of effort into letting people know that he’s not hard to get ahold of, but it appears that the phone lines might be a bit dryer than the staff in Boulder had hoped to this point. In fact, Sanders’ kids are getting involved in the recruiting process by reaching out on Instagram.

Shilo Sanders put this out on IG on Tuesday night, portraying just how crazy a time we are living in when it comes to the portal.

Now, Sanders makes it clear that Colorado is not Last Chance U, which refers to a Netflix documentary where JUCO players face adversities of all kinds to keep their dreams of playing college football alive, but that’s almost the vibe that I’m starting to get from the program as they struggle as much as anyone to keep their roster consistent.

Still, Colorado is recruiting the portal as well as anyone, ranking second nationally with five four-star players and 19 three-star players coming in so far.

Deion and the Buffaloes will open up their 2024 season against D-II powerhouse North Dakota State on August 31.
