Colorado DB Adam Hopkins Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Arizona at Colorado

Colorado’s portal exodus continued on Monday morning as 247Sports reported that defensive back Adam Hopkins is set to transfer after spending just one season with the Buffaloes.

Hopkins, a member of the 2023 recruiting class, was listed as a four-star prospect out of Thomasville (Ga.) and the No. 266 player in the country in last year’s cycle.

While he was listed as a wide receiver, Hopkins was brought to Boulder to help the Buffs on the defensive side of the ball. That is where he appeared in three games for CU, totaling four tackles in his time on the field for Deion Sanders.

Hopkins was listed as one of six young players that Colorado didn’t want to see enter the portal, according to Buffaloes Wire on USA Today Sports, as he was one of their highest-rated recruits in last years cycle and showed promise on both sides of the ball early in his career.

One of the highest-rated recruits who signed with Colorado last year, Hopkins practiced at both wide receiver and cornerback this past season, but it appears that he’s leaning more toward the defensive side of the ball. If you’ve impressed Coach Prime enough to earn reps at cornerback, you’re a player that I want to have stick around.

Hopkins will have four years of eligibility remaining with his redshirts till intact, and could be a big name to watch in the coming weeks. As for Colorado, this is the 17th portal entry of the spring with eight days left remaining before the window closes.
