Four-Star Kansas Commit Labaron Philon Requests NLI Release

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Basketball Media Day

While Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks have had an incredible offseason in the transfer portal, the team is losing one of its key incoming freshmen in the Class of 2024.

2024 four-star shooting guard Labaron Philon announced on Tuesday that he would be requesting release from his letter of intent at Kansas.

Coming out of Link Academy in the Class of 2024, Philon was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 32nd-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the third-ranked point guard in his class and the second-ranked player in the state of Missouri.

With his de-commitment, the Jayhawks are now down to two prospects in the Class of 2024. Two incoming freshmen are projected to take the court for Kansas in 2024 with five-star center Flory Bidunga and four-star shooting guard Rakease Passmore.

Upon being granted his release, Philon will reopen his recruitment. Prior to committing to Kansas on September 25th, the Missouri native visited Alabama, Cincinnati, and Ole Miss.
