UCF Lands Former Miami EDGE Nyjalik Kelly in Transfer Portal

Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights added a new player to their roster this offseason with the addition of former Miami EDGE Nyjalik Kelly.

Kelly, a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022, spent the previous two seasons at Miami and will now return to the Sunshine State with a different program as a UCF Knight in 2024.

Coming out of Dillard High School in the Class of 2022, Kelly was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 87th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 11th-ranked player at his position and the 11th-ranked player in the state of Florida.

Kelly heads to Orlando with two years of eligibility remaining after suiting up in both his freshman and sophomore seasons at Miami.

Kelly was an impressive high school prospect in his class and received offers from 28 different programs. The Florida native chose the Hurricanes over offers from Florida State, LSU, Arizona State, Oregon, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Ole Miss, Penn State, Texas, West Virginia, and more.

Director of scouting Adrew Ivins spoke on Kelly prior to his Miami commitment, saying, “A fluid, athletic big man that can get after the quarterback. He has developed a few go-to pass-rushing moves but still could add a few more to the toolbox, which should happen once he’s studying under a veteran defensive line coach. Kelly totaled 13 sacks as a junior and then 12 more as a senior, facing top competition every week down in South Florida. He should emerge as a multi-year starter and potentially an all-conference type of player for a Top 25 program. NFL upside if everything comes together.”

With his commitment, UCF’s transfer class has now jumped to the nation’s 22nd-ranked spot.
