Seven Big 12 Players Selected in Second Round of 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft continued with the second round on Friday night from Detroit, Michigan, and seven Big 12 players ended up hearing their names called. This came after a relatively quiet first round for the Big 12, with only three players selected, including zero players from the future Big 12 teams.

On Friday night in the second round, the following Big 12 players heard their names called.


38. T’Vondre Sweat, DT (Texas), Tennessee Titans
46. Jonathan Brooks, RB (Texas), Carolina Panthers
51. Zach Frazier, C (West Virginia), Pittsburgh Steelers
52. Adonai Mitchell, WR (Texas), Indianapolis Colts
53. Ben Sinnott, TE (Kansas State), Washington Commanders
55. Patrick Paul, OT (Houston), Miami Dolphins
63. Kingsley Suamataia, OT (BYU), Kansas City Chiefs

Many of these names were of those we expected to hear on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.

On Thursday night in the first round, Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II was the first Big 12 player off the board at No. 16 to the Seattle Seahawks. Then, at No. 28, the Kansas City Chiefs took Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy, followed by the Dallas Cowboys taking Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton at No. 29.

Round 3 of the NFL Draft continues on Friday night, with Rounds 4 through 7 taking place on Saturday.
