Bobby Hurley Creating Documentary Series to Increase Arizona State Basketball Popularity
Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley is pitching a unique way to grow fan support and recognition for the Sun Devils Basketball program that involves the creation of a television series.
According to a report from the Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, Hurley has been meeting with producers and streaming platforms in hopes of creating a series that helps elevate the brand for Arizona State basketball.
“Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley is in talks with major Hollywood producers and streaming platforms to create a made-for-TV docuseries leveraging Hurley’s personal NIL, success as a player, and as a coach to forge Fortune 500 brand partnerships with the intent to further increase the visibility of the men’s basketball program,” Goodman wrote.
While the approach may take some time to get off the ground, it comes on a day when ASU basketball fans have already received some good news. The Sun Devils added their second player through the transfer portal, former Milwaukee guard BJ Freeman. Freeman brings some impressive stats to Tempe after averaging 21.1/6.6/4.1 as a junior with the Panthers.
Goodman later responded to his tweet regarding Hurley’s plans and mentioned, “This would be a game-changer for Hurley and Arizona State which has struggled with NIL this past year.”
As unconventional as the idea may seem at this point in time if the series helps to increase some new NIL relationships, Hurley may be onto something genius.
