Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs made a splash addition through the transfer portal on Sunday with the addition of former Alabama center James Brockermeyer.

According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Brockermeyer was working with the Crimson Tide’s first-team offense throughout spring training camp.

Brockermeyer was a top prospect in his class and received offers from 17 different programs. The Texas native chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Texas, Michigan, Miami, Iowa, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, USC, and more.

Coming out of All Saints Episcopal High School in the Class of 2021, Brockermeyer was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 194th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 13th-ranked player at his position and the 32nd-ranked player in the state of Texas.

With his commitment, Brockermeyer helped the Horned Frogs’ class of incoming transfers to leap into the nation’s top 25 ranked offseason units. Sonny Dykes transfer group jumped to the 21st-ranked group in the country.

While the Horned Frogs may not have had the season they envisioned in Sonny Dykes’ second year with the program, TCU’s staff is doing everything they can to field a competitive roster in 2024.
